President Barack Obama’s Farewell Address

Obama Awards Presidential Medal of Freedom

In his final months as President,  Obama awarded many famous and innovative individuals with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. In the year of 2009, Obama himself was awarded with the Nobel Prize, and even the naysayers didn’t seem to bother him.

Who would have thought that a Senator from Chicago, Illinois would have come so far, and would have given so much with so little time.

But what will President Obama do now, he will no doubt be focusing on his private organizations he championed throughout the years, Organizing for Action and the Obama Foundation, possibly after his tenure in the White House. Meet the 44th President ~Times are changing once again in the political arena. With our nation’s 44th, President Barack Obama completing his eight years as Commander-in-Chief of the United States of America.

Some call him POTUS, some call him Mr. President, some call him Obama. But whatever you call him, he was, and still is at the time of this writing, our nation’s first black President.

There’s a lot to be said on this topic, with race relations that plague most urban cities, rural towns and communities in America. But for 8 precious years we witnessed a miracle. The miracle of all people coming together as one America.  American’s wanted change, and his answer was “yes we can!” and yes we did!

There was a Social Media buzz that set the tone for years to come on how political campaigns are run. People came out in droves to vote for this man. But as he said throughout both hard fought campaigns, it’s not about him, it was about the American people.

With the overly complicated voting system of past elections and the often misunderstood Electoral College, President Obama flourished and won both elections by a landslide, serving two full terms. His accomplishments during his service met with controversy however, and many believe he didn’t serve his nation to the best of his ability. And on some issues we even disagree. But whatever side of the fence you sit on, this was a very different America. Change had indeed come.

Americans grew close to the first family, with First Lady Michelle Obama‘s magnificent style of dress, and elegant nature that would make Rosa Parks proud. She too championed civil rights causes that grew close to her heart, like the ‘Bring Back Our Girls” hashtag campaign on Twitter, when Middle School girls were abducted from Nigeria. During his farewell speech, President Obama said to his wife;

“Michelle LaVaughn Robinson, girl of the South Side — for the past 25 years you have not only been, my wife and mother of my children you have been my best friend. You took on a role you didn’t ask for, and you made it your own, with grace, and with grit, and with style and good humor. — You made the White House a place that belongs to everybody, and a new generation sets it sights higher because it has you as a role model. So… you have made me proud, and you have made the country proud.”

President Obama also paid homage to their two daughters, a tearful Malia and Sasha who stayed in Washington because she had a school exam to attend to. One could just imagine what the daughters of the Obama family would grow up to be.

So what makes this man so special, and his accomplishments so extra-ordinary. President Obama is not Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who marched no-violently for freedom in the 1960s.

Or Malcolm X, who through the words “By Any Means Necessary”,  in the 1960s became an American icon, nor Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Louis Farrakhan or any of our nations great black leaders.

President Obama represents the dream. Dr. King’s dream, the people’s dream, the change Malcolm X represented in his final days, and the truth that all men are created equal. This is what President Obama embodies, and he has the Audacity of Hope.

President Barack Obama met life with much adversity however, he also looks, acts, and talks like a black man, but like most African-American men, women and children, his DEA is of a mixed heritage.

Born Barack Hussein Obama II, his father Barack Obama Sr., was a Kenyan governmental economist who attended the University of Hawaii, who later tragically passed away in a car crash.

His mother, Ann Dunham from Wichita, Kansas was an Anthropologist and of Caucasian heritage. She met  Barack Obama Sr., while attending the University of Hawaii as well, and then she later became pregnant with young Barack Obama.

Barack Obama Sr. however had many more children after their divorce, and Ann Dunham then later became pregnant with young Obama’s half sister Maya Soetoro-Ng. Their mother Ann, later tragically passed away, much too soon of cancer at the tender age of 52. The irony of it all was when the now President Elect Donald Trump, who defeated Hillary Clinton by winning the Electoral College in decision 2016.

Chose to challenge President Obama’s US citizenship years before, with several public attempts to have him produce his birth certificate, which met with failed attempts to dethrone our Commander-in-Chief.

President Barack Obama did indeed show President Elect Trump his birth certificate, via the media just to shut him up. No doubt this type of embarrassment would cause President Elect Trump to run for the same seat as the President.

But through all the mudslinging, President Obama promises a smooth transition of power as by the Presidential Transition Act of 1963.

Socialbilitty Entertainment Equals Diversity, but in this case in Politics as well. Thank You for your service. You always and forever will be, Mr. President Obama. May God bless you and your wonderful family, and may God bless the United States of America.
