A Boom Operator is a production-sound crew member who positions and operates boom-mounted microphones to capture dialogue and other sound as cleanly as possible while remaining outside the camera frame and avoiding unwanted shadows, reflections, and interference. The Boom Operator works closely with the Production Sound Mixer.
