Continuity

Continuity is the consistency of story, performance, action, wardrobe, props, lighting, position, timing, and other visual or narrative details from shot to shot and scene to scene. Maintaining continuity helps separate pieces of coverage cut together as if they occurred seamlessly.

Hot Set

A Hot Set is a set that has been dressed, arranged, lit, rigged, or otherwise prepared for photography and should not be altered without authorization. Props, furniture, marks, equipment, set dressing, and other elements may need to remain exactly in place so continuity is preserved between takes and setups.
