Her real name is Deja Trimble just like Déjà vu, which is French for already seen, or what Teena Marie and Dionne Warwick sing about in music tracks of the same name. She rocks the short Halle Berry style hair, and yes she will have many wack MC’s Trembling no doubt, pardon the pun. Standing only… well we really don’t know her true height and weight, let’s just say she’s a sexy Lil Bit…The hit single “Try Me”, first got traction over the internet in 2014 and now Urban Radio stations can’t get enough. She effectively mixes her singing voice with her MC voice and frankly, you can’t tell the difference because it blends for practical purposes. The message is grimy, but the delivery is special. Not for anything pop, this is for true Hip-Hop heads indeed. With rap veterans, The Lox bringing her out on stage, and even puttin’ down a Remix of “Try Me”, which ironically pays homage to this new female MC’s true talent, and a rumor mill to add that tends to follow. One website even said that she’s the sister of Nicki Minaj, but to our knowledge she’s just a sista from Detroit, Michigan.
According to recent interviews, she is compaired to many female MC’s with household names, such as Nicki Minaj, Remy Ma and Lil Kim. She was an independent artist until 2014, now signed with Colombia Records, she’s still Managed by IBGM. Wow, how did big time music Moguls sleep on her! Well, better late then never. It would even be nice to see the contrast between her and pop influenced Iggy Azalea, since her fall from grace so to speak with the rise of the Twitter Rants…
Even though it would be more controversial, the blending of the two female’s styles could forge a new “Hip Hop Is Universal” type movement. It ain’t where you’re from, it’s where you’re at! Didn’t Rakim say that on a Classic Track, “I know You Got Soul”? Yeah, Hip-Hop is universal, and everybody needs to kill that noise… Oops, yet another classic Rap track by MC Shan, new Hip Hop heads might not know nothin’ about that there, or may not even care, but the message is clear!
As for now Deja, excuse me DeJ Loaf, and The Game have teamed together to create a hot new track, “Ambitionz of a Rida”, no doubt inspired from late 2Pac, rather Makaveli’s, “Ambitionz Az a Rida” from his double, quadruple platinum and now diamond CD, “All Eyez on Me” Track 1, Disc 1. This single is hopefully slated to be the first single from The Game’s, The Documentary 2 album. Which is much anticipated. Especially if he’s teamed up with Dr. Dre once again. The track with Kid Ink “Be Real” produced by none other than Dj Mustard is nice, the video however is reminiscent of the True Blood series on HBO, with some really intense visuals. Let’s just hope that they used the red stuff from party stores on the video shoot. As you can see DeJ Loaf is well on her way to Rap stardom. Let’s just hope she keeps it 100, as in keeping a level head, and longevity in this thing called Hip Hop… Word Up & Turn Up!
