Turkey Day is sometimes an excuse to play dress up to go out a see family members you haven’t seen a while for Thanksgiving dinner. It’s always fun, but dressing up is usually not required. In the movies you see families dress up, but it’s basically based on the tradition of the family. You don’t want to offend your Grandmother who cooked that fabulous Turkey and sweet potato pie, if you know she wants you to look good for the family function.
Love ones, Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews come far and wide from different parts of the country that you haven’t seen since last year. It’s family time and you want to look your best. However, some families are smaller in size, and it doesn’t matter if you dress up, just as long as you are there.
The sheer thought of you being at home with friends and family during Thanksgiving is a special in and of itself. Some families however are not so fortunate. The military for example are often away from their families, during the holidays and even though they miss their family, today’s technology such as Skype has allowed many of these families to communicate during this festive time. The armed forces do however proved a bountiful spread of the holiday fest with all the trimmings.
Other less fortunate families are indeed homeless and cannot afford and Thanksgiving dinner, and yet they are sill grateful of the ones that care and feed them. The late EJ Jackson of Jackson Limousine has been doing this for years, giving away Turkey dinners in Los Angeles for Thanksgiving. This is truly friendsgiving and even though EJ Jackson will be missed, folks will still be fed from the giving organization he created.
So whether you decide to dress up, go out like to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade, or stay home during the holiday, have a very Happy Thanksgiving which is really Friendsgiving because we all have a lot to be thankful for indeed.
